DeKalb Community Hospital Identified as One of the Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S.

Dec 03, 2008

Ingenix has released its fifth annual report on the “Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S.”. DeKalb Community Hospital was one of only 3 from the entire state of Tennessee to make the list. The report ranks hospitals according to the completeness and accuracy of their medical coding practices used to bill Medicare for inpatient medical services. This year’s report identifies hospitals that have adapted best to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ updated policies.
Consultants ranked 4,607 hospitals within their peer groups on 13 metrics and identified overall top performers. DeKalb Community Hospital was compared to other rural, non-teaching hospitals across the country and was identified as within the top 50 for the entire group.
Tina Jones, the Director over the Medical Records Departments of both Dekalb Community Hospital and Stones River Hospital, states “I am very proud of the outstanding job those within my department have done. For DeKalb Community Hospital to make this very exclusive list of top hospitals is quite an honor”.
